Artist Statement

Seeking to critique society, politics  and challenge political ideologies surrounding current events. I draw on quotes and images from the media. I chop and change them to illustrate my perspective on current socio-political climate.

I create layers to cover the information I want to restrict, and wipe away some portions of layers to reveal more information. By using bold lettering on top of the layers of paint gives the viewer the overview of the theme of a piece. Weaving different media and using bold headlines I try to capture the nature of politics and world events. In the piece, cut your eyes out, i’ll tell you what you saw (2024) bold words taken from a New York Times headline, Land Grab, combined with layers and abstraction I am providing my interpretation and perspective on affairs with Israel.

We are constantly bombarded by rapidly evolving media, not all true, not all false and rarely in the middle my paintings serve as a reflection and commentary on social and political issues, particularly issues in America. I invite and challenge viewers to engage in the types of critical dialogue we desperately lack.
