Kagen King

Kagen King is an American mixed-media artist from Athens, Georgia. King’s work dwells on the American perception of global political upheaval, breaking away from the traditional modes of painting. Kagen King questions academic interpretations of international politics in art and creates rebellion within his large-scale compositions. Politically antagonistic, King has made his work with explicit consideration and intent to help the viewers locate and digest their internal politics. Kagen King’s cluttered, rough, heavy-handed descriptive collage works exclude dainty details and harmony to match the global intake of revolution and social change. His large textured brushstrokes embody the distress and impact of tyranny and the daily life lived within these harsh environments. This raw, realistic outlook is King’s artistic depiction of our world without embellishment.
